I could list all the reasons that my day had tried my patience, but I won't. On second thought, I will. It will only help explain the point of my blog in the first place.
It was a hot and steamy Thursday.........
Actually, it's been a hot and steamy July so far. Our a/c at home has not been working, the a/c at work has been working, somewhat. I woke up hot, I went to work hot, I started for home, still hot. Did I mention that PMS in also involved? It is.
I still had a glimmer of hope because I had won FREE tickets from Thy Word radio network to the Building 429 concert in Odon that evening.
So I rushed home, checked the thermostat, and found it obvious that the repairman had not come and replaced a coil yet.
I really didn't want to cook. But, wife leaving for a fun evening + hubby coming home from work= some sort of dinner that needed to be whipped up.
I was supposed to pick my sister up at 5:30, it's now 5:45. Dinner still not done cooking.
I realized I needed gas before driving to Odon. Ughh, one more thing!
The whole time I was just getting snippierer and snippier.
I pull into the gas station and use my card to pay at the pump. Pump gas, done.
No receipt. By now let's just say I was not a happy camper!
I hurry inside and have to wait for someone to help me. I point out that I pumped gas but got no receipt. I mention (not too friendly), "It's pointless to pay at the pump if I have to come inside for the receipt." To which the employee not-apologetically says,
"Sometimes it messes up." AAUURRRHHH
Yeh, that didn't calm me down at all.....
We drive over to the concert and go in. IT'S FREEZING IN THERE! :) yes!
By about the 3rd song, I've heard this phrase in my head about 10 times, "Sometimes it messes up." and behind that phrase I started hearing, "Sometimes I just mess up."
I could have planned ahead more for Mark's dinner.
I could have gotten gas on my lunch break that day.
I could have been much more understanding of the receipt fiasco.
Sometimes I just mess up.
I'm so grateful the He is the Lord of second chances. We all mess up, we all fall down, we're human. However, Acts 3:19 calls us to, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord"
So right there from my chair I repented of my behavior, had a little talk with Him, and was ministered to in a wonderful way by the worshipful music of Building 429.
Have you messed up? Go back 2 paragraphs for directions. :)
